| The Pittsburgh Steelers Look To Cage up the Jacksonville Jaguars |
The Pittsburgh Steelers look to continue their strong home play as they host the Jacksonville Jaguars in week six. The Jacksonville Jaguars are in a transition year as Blaine Gabbert gets accustomed to the role as starting quarterback. So far the results haven’t been great as Gabbert is connecting on less than 50% of his passes through four starts. On the ground, Maurice Jones Drew is averaging five yards per carry, but the Steelers defense is likely to key in on him this week to force the aerial attack to beat them. The Jaguars defense ranks 10th in the league in both rushing yards and passing yards allowed, but they’re still allowing 23 points per game to the opposition. This doesn’t figure to be an easy road test for Jack Del Rio’s team, and the spread accurately reflects that. The Pittsburgh Steelers have been ravaged by injuries in the early going, but someone forgot to tell the backups they were incapable of stepping up last week as the Steelers would crush the heavily backed underdog Titans. Ben Roethlisberger seems immune to letting anything short of a missing limb inhibit his play as he erupted for five touchdown passes in week five working the middle of the field with ease to targets Hines Ward and Heath Miller. The Steelers defense has caught heat for their age all season, but in the absence of a prolific offense to tire this unit out, expect fierce and physical play. The spread is close to the max range you’ll ever see since sharps will blind bet almost anything above two touchdowns due to historical data. I expect Jacksonville to struggle immensely to convert third downs in this game against a defense that is still fearful for a rookie to be facing on the road. The Steelers are still an elite team in the NFL and the Jacksonville Jaguars are rebuilding, but still have some talent. It will be interesting to see how they play against the Jags this week, as they attempt to keep winning big.
