The Oakland Raiders Welcome the Cleveland Browns to the Black Hole

The Oakland Raiders are off a huge win and look to carry momentum into this game against the Cleveland Browns. The latest NFL odds for this game and all of the other exciting action on Sunday can be found at online sportsbook Bet Phoenix.

The Cleveland Browns come out of their bye week to take on the Oakland Raiders at the Black Hole.

The Cleveland Browns are in the basement of the highly competitive AFC North, but sitting at 2-2 they aren’t out of the race yet. The bye week seemed to come at an opportune time as bruising running back Peyton Hillis has now had some time to rest and heal to help lead an offensive attack that lacks big playmakers. Quarterback Colt McCoy has experienced mixed results thus far as none of his receivers have eclipsed the 200 yard mark through four games. On defense the Browns are struggling immensely to contain opposing ground attacks as they rank 25th in the league allowing 124.5 yards per game. Through the air the Browns have been much better but it’s probably a reflection of the competition in the first three weeks as Matt Hasslebeck absolutely torched them in week four. The Browns are a gritty team and have an upset potential quality about them, but it could take a big play or two from Joshua Cribbs to get the win in a tough road environment.

The Oakland Raiders are proving that last season’s campaign was no fluke as they rank 2nd in the league in rushing through five games averaging 161.8 yards per game. Darren McFadden is leading the charge as an absolute beast allowing quarterback Jason Campbell to manage the game and connect with his wealth of skill targets. On defense, the Raiders secondary is clearly missing Nnamdi Asomugha as they rank 29th in the league allowing nearly 300 yards through the air per game. Defending the run hasn’t been much better but at least Oakland is getting to the quarterback with 14 sacks on the year. The false start potential of the Raiders fans can’t be overlooked here but neither can the fact that the Raiders are the mostly heavily penalized team in the league averaging 10 penalties per game for 89 yards.

The Raiders haven’t been asked to live up to expectations as all three wins have come as dogs, but even so I think this team is up to the challenge. The Raiders get the edge on offense and also have the personnel to nurse a lead with the run game which makes them the marginally better selection in my opinion. However, this is the NFL and on any given Sunday and upset can happen.

Look for the Cleveland Browns to bring in a good game plan off a bye and play hard in this big game.
