| Monday Night Football: Miami Dolphins vs. New York Jets |
The New York Jets finished last season just a win away from going to the Super Bowl and after starting this season with two wins they looked like a team determined to get there this year. After winning those first games the Jets went on a three game road trip losing all three games. Mark Sanchez is still growing as a QB and with his growth will be growing pains as he has completed 56.1 percent of his passes for 1171 yards with eight touchdowns and five interceptions while being sacked 13 times. Shonn Greene has taken over as the featured back but he is averaging a paltry 3.3 yards per carry as is LaDanian Tomlinson. Tight end Dustin Keller has 19 catches and two touchdowns, Santonio Holmes has 17 catches and two touchdowns, and Plaxico Burress 13 catches and two touchdowns. The Jets defense allows 337.8 yards per game but they have struggled against the run allowing 134.8 yards per game. New York has 13 sacks, four fumble recoveries, and seven interceptions. Eric Smith leads the Jets in tackles with 33 followed by David Harris with 31 and Bart Scott with 28. New York can only hope home cooking puts and end to their losing streak. The Miami Dolphins are one of two winless teams in the NFL and the heat is on Head Coach Tony Sporano to start winning now. With Chad Henne gone for the season the starting QB job falls to Matt Moore who was only able to earn one win over the course of his career. Daniel Thomas missed last game in San Diego but following the bye last week he should be a go here and while the rookie has failed to find the end zone he is averaging 4.9 yards per carry while Reggie Bush averages just three yards per rushing attempt. Brandon Marshall has 22 receptions to lead Miami followed by Davone Bess with 15 and Brian Hartline with 13 but this is an offense that hasn’t been effective. Defensively Miami is allowing 414.5 yards per game but to be fair they have only played four games and one of those was a near record setting performance by Tom Brady. The Dolphins have just six sacks, two fumble recoveries, and two interceptions. Yeremiah Bell has 38 tackles, Reshad Jones has 26, and Sean Smith has 20. Brandon Marshall has made some interesting comments in this game, and it will be exciting to watch when he takes the field in this prime time game.
