Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week Eight: Who to Add and Who To Drop
Fantasy Football Waiver Wire Week Eight: Who to Add and Who To Drop

With a recent rash of injuries and the bye weeks in full effect, fantasy football owners are searching for the replacement that will get them through the lean weeks. Thanks to the gang at football guys, here is a list of some players to add and drop in week eight in the NFL.

Quarterback:

ADD

Tim Tebow, Broncos: Tebow was officially named the starter last week while the Broncos were on bye. We talked about him last week in length, but we thought we'd remind you that if he's available he's one of the top additions we'd recommend in most leagues.

DROP

Rex Grossman, Redskins: There's a chance that Mike Shanahan could give Grossman one more week or go back to Grossman as the season progresses. However, the amount of interceptions Grossman has thrown during the past 3-4 weeks has probably sealed his fate for as long as John Beck, a player who arguably out-played Grossman during the preseason, can play mistake-free football. Grossman remains a quarterback capable of hot streaks, but if Shanahan awards Beck the starting job Grossman is an easy drop.

Running Back:

ADD

Earnest Graham, Buccaneers: If LaGarrette Blount misses additional time, we see further evidence against the Saints why Graham is a viable fantasy RB2 in this offense. Graham is a grind-it-out, effort runner between the tackles with strong skills as an outlet receiver. Graham sealed the game after the two-minute warning with a 12-yard gain running just how we described, going over 100 yards in the process. With the Bears as the Bucs next home opponent, there's a good chance Graham can earn another 100-yard game against a defense that has struggled against the run.

DROP

Running Back Drops

Cadillac Williams, Rams: In case you were holding onto Williams until you saw enough from Steven Jackson, now's the time to pronounce the end of his 2011 fantasy contributions for the near future. The Rams' starter performed well against the Packers and Williams hurt his knee and the St. Louis staff pronounced his return in the game "doubtful." Williams is unlikely to play at least for the next week even as a substitute. Don't wait for the medical prognosis to drop Williams.

Wide Receiver

ADD

Doug Baldwin, Seattle: Baldwin continues to impress in the slot and he does a nice job of winning passes in the intermediate and deep range. Although the prospect of Baldwin losing time to Sidney Rice, Ben Obomanu, and even Mike Williams is a possibility, the rookie is playing well enough that we think it would take a couple of really bad weeks for that to happen. We could see take James Jones or Damian Williams over Baldwin, but the gap is quite narrow among the three. Baldwin has more PPR upside and that's why we have him ahead of them.

DROP

Denarius Moore, Raiders: Moore has only had a handful of receptions since his dominant day against the Bills in Week Two. We don't recommend carrying Moore on a squad where Darrius Heyward-Bey and Jacoby Ford are the only two receivers getting targets worth monitoring as a fantasy owner. The rookie is obviously talented, but there's no use in counting on him and holding a spot for him while bypassing players with more opportunities each week.

Depending on how deep your league is there may be different players out there, just make sure to scan the latest listing and pick up the best available.
