| Tuesday College Football Preview |
The latest college football betting odds for this can be found at the top rated online sportsbook, Bet Phoenix. Last week Troy was dismantled by 2-5, 1-2 Louisiana Monroe 38-10 at home too. The Warhawks won the game in the trenches outgaining the Trojans 523-126 in total yards including an even more imposing 262-yard edge on the ground. Troy accumulated -14 rushing yards themselves on the day. Senior placekicker Michael Taylor put the Trojans ahead 3-0, but at halftime we were all knotted up at three. Then in the second half all Troy could muster up on offense for points was a junior running back Shawn Southward 11-yard run followed by a Taylor Point After Touchdown on the Trojans' first possession of the third quarter no less. As for Florida International during Week Eight of the college football season, the Golden Panthers were tamed 34-16 at 5-3, 3-0 Arkansas State last Tuesday. FIU started well but ended poorly getting outscored 21-0 in the fourth quarter. Junior PK Jack Griffin sank two field goals as did the Red Wolves to head into halftime locked up at six. Then after ASU scored to open the second half, seniors quarterback Wesley Carroll's quick-strike TD to wide receiver T.Y. Hilton from 46 yards away put us back on even terms. The Panthers then took the lead with Griffin's 44-yard boot at the end of the third before things unraveled during the final frame. Florida International opened 2011 with three straight wins, beating 3-5, 2-2 North Texas and 3-4, 1-2 Central Florida at home while upsetting 3-4, 1-1 Louisville on the road. The Golden Panthers however have lost three of their last four including their last two home games. 6-2, 4-1 Louisiana-Lafayette and 3-4, 1-2 Duke got them in back-to-back weeks by less than a TD. FIU's two conference losses were to the top two teams in the Sun-Belt Standings at the moment while a visit to 3-4, 3-1 Western Kentucky is on tap next week. It's conceivable if the Panthers run the table they could win the Sun-Belt. Similarly if Troy wins out they could win the conference championship for the sixth year in a row. The numbers suggest the Trojans are terrible, but when you factor in they played at the BCS' No. 5 Clemson and No. 10 Arkansas it might be more to the product of their schedule. The again after a brief two-game winning streak, Troy took losses on the chin against the Ragin' Cajuns in another away game along with losing to LMU. It's just another case why in the Sun-Belt the Trojans even when not at their best get the other guy's best shot. This is one of these games you can flip a coin on. If it's heads you take Troy, 0-3 on the road, and if it's tails you take Florida International, 2-2 at home. This game will be a nice way to kick off the week with some early college football betting action.
