Florida International opened 2011 with three straight wins, beating 3-5, 2-2 North Texas and 3-4, 1-2 Central Florida at home while upsetting 3-4, 1-1 Louisville on the road. The Golden Panthers however have lost three of their last four including their last two home games. 6-2, 4-1 Louisiana-Lafayette and 3-4, 1-2 Duke got them in back-to-back weeks by less than a TD. FIU's two conference losses were to the top two teams in the Sun-Belt Standings at the moment while a visit to 3-4, 3-1 Western Kentucky is on tap next week. It's conceivable if the Panthers run the table they could win the Sun-Belt. Similarly if Troy wins out they could win the conference championship for the sixth year in a row. The numbers suggest the Trojans are terrible, but when you factor in they played at the BCS' No. 5 Clemson and No. 10 Arkansas it might be more to the product of their schedule. The again after a brief two-game winning streak, Troy took losses on the chin against the Ragin' Cajuns in another away game along with losing to LMU. It's just another case why in the Sun-Belt the Trojans even when not at their best get the other guy's best shot. This is one of these games you can flip a coin on. If it's heads you take Troy, 0-3 on the road, and if it's tails you take Florida International, 2-2 at home. This game will be a nice way to kick off the week with some early college football betting action.
