Cincinnati Bengals vs. Seattle Seahawks
Cincinnati Bengals vs. Seattle Seahawks

The Cincinnati Bengals vs. Seattle Seahawks is going to be an interesting game as both teams try and climb up the standings.

The latest NFL odds for week eight and in this game can be found at the top rated sportsbook, Bet Phoenix.

Even during their bye week, the news has been positive in Cincinnati. The Bengals jettisoned the overrated Carson Palmer to Oakland last week for a first rounder and a conditional pick which could turn into another first rounder. That’s a king’s ransom for someone who tossed 20 interceptions last season and has never been the same since his devastating knee injury several years ago.

With Palmer and the man who tweets more than he catches footballs- Chad Ochocinco- out of town, the Bengals have reloaded on offense with high draft picks Andy Dalton and AJ Green. The promising duo’s strong play combined with a so-far stellar defense has last year’s division doormat at 4-2. Cincy is surrendering only 18.5 points a game, good for fifth best in the NFL. An easy schedule has definitely aided the fast start and a trip to the playoffs is still a bit of a long shot. But there's undoubtedly more hope in Cincinnati than there has been in recent years.

Out in the Pacific Northwest, the Seahawks are in rebuilding mode as well. The difference is that their 2-4 record reflects that. In perhaps the most anemic offensive display of the season, Seattle fell to Cleveland 6-3 last Sunday. The offense was missing its starting quarterback (Tavaris Jackson) running back (Marshawn Lynch, and tight end (Zach Miller), but that does not fully excuse the wretched performance.

Pete Caroll’s squad mustered a pathetic 137 yards from its 50 plays. Charlie Whitehurst got the start under center for the Seahawks, and he proved why he is a backup quarterback in this league. Whitehurst- who has attempted just 148 passes in his career- stunk up the joint with 97 yards passing and two turnovers in the loss.

On the bright side, the defense totaled five sacks on the day, including two from team leader Chris Clemons. It is hard to fault a unit that surrendered just two field goals. The Seahawks defense is now the tenth-best scoring defense in the NFL (last season the ranked 25th). Seattle also got some bad luck when Leon Washington’s 81- yard punt return was nullified because of an incorrect block-in-the-back call.

This week should be another defensive battle when Seattle welcomes the Bengals to town, but only time will tell when this game kicks off on Sunday.
