Texas Longhorns vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders
Texas Longhorns vs. Texas Tech Red Raiders

After defeating Oklahoma, the Red Raiders of Texas tech fell flat but now will need a victory over Texas to prove that they are for real.

The latest college football odds for week ten and the best wagering options on football can be found at Bet Phoenix.

The Texas Longhorns may not be among the top teams in the nation this year Mack Brown’s team is far better than the team the Horns fielded a year ago that failed to make a bowl game. After trying out a dual QB system Texas has settled with David Ash at QB and while he has more interceptions, five, than touchdown passes, three, the most important thing is Texas has a winning record.

The Longhorns are loaded with talent in the backfield with Malcolm Brown, Joe Bergeron, and Fozzy Whittaker all capable of contributing quality time on the field. Jaxon Shipley is the Horns’ leading receiver with 33 catches and three touchdowns and Mike Davis is next with 27. The Texas defense was huge last week against lowly Kansas holding them to two total yards for the first half and less than 50 yards for the game. Alex Okafor has three sacks and Adrian Phillips and Quandre Diggs have two interceptions each.

Two weeks ago the Texas Tech Red Raiders celebrated beating a top ranked Oklahoma team on the raod; last week Tommy Tuberville’s squad was blown out at home to Iowa State, a 15.5 point underdog. QB Seth Droege has completed 67.9 percent of his passes with 22 touchdowns and just six interceptions. The Red Raiders suffered a big loss when running back Eric Stephens went down for the year and DeAndre Washington is now the top option but thus far we have seen a significant drop off.

As usual Texas Tech receivers are putting up big numbers as Eric Ward has 49 catches and Alex Torres has 41. The Texas Tech defense hasn’t done much this season and they are basically called upon to just make a few stops a game in hopes the offense can just outscore the opponent. Cody Davis leads the Red Raiders’ defense with 48 tackles and D.J. Johnson has 47.

This game is a must-win for both these teams with Texas Tech looking for dignity, while the Longhorns want to get noticed on the national scene.
