Thursday Night Football: Houston vs. Tulane
Thursday Night Football: Houston vs. Tulane

The Houston Cougars enter Thursday night college football as one of a handful of undefeated teams when they play against Tulane.

Bet Phoenix has all off the latest odds on this game and all of the college football betting action for week 11.

Last week Houston looked sluggish for a half but wiped out 1-8, 1-5 Alabama Birmingham 56-13 with a second-half offensive and defensive clinic. The Cougs hope to keep the clinical work going again on the road at the 2-8, 1-5 Tulane Green Wave.

The Blazers struck first and struck at the final gun of the first half and early in the second half to sneak within eight points of Houston who said “Enough is enough.” The Cougars scored four of their first five touchdowns via the ground game. Senior running back Michael Hayes and sophomore RB Charles Sims crossed the plane of the end zone once each while senior quarterback Case Keenum did it twice along with throwing three scores.

Catching Keenum’s TDs were senior wide receiver Tyron Carrier, senior WR Justin Johnson and freshman RB Daniel Spencer while junior defensive back D.J. Hayden recorded a pick six for Houston who affirmed their place as the country’s most potent scoring offense.

Tulane was toppled at 6-3, 4-2 Southern Methodist last Saturday 45-24. The Green Wave scored 24 of the 31 points during the third quarter to put a little scare into the Mustangs who led 31-0 at halftime. Scoring for Tulane was sophomore linebacker Dominique Robertson 18 seconds into the third period on an 18-yard scoop while junior QB Ryan Griffin threw a pair of TDs and sophomore placekicker Cairo Santos sank a 42-yard field goal. Catching Griffin’s long passing plays of 30 and 49 yards were sophomore wide receiver Wilson Van Hooser and freshman WR Justyn Shackleford. Unfortunately for the Wave the scoring binge stopped for them after the third quarter.

This game should be an easy win for Houston and they should remain undefeated, but some weird things happen in prime time football and anyone can win.
