In one of the best games of the week, the Stanford Cardinal and the Oregon Ducks do battle in an effort to move up the BCS Rankings.

For the Cardinal it took them a little longer to get in synch offensively, but once they got rolling there was little Oregon State could do in Corvallis to slow them down especially at the end of the third period. Stanford struck for 17 points during the second quarter after a scoreless first. It all began with senior running back Jeremy Stewart's two-yard run seconds into the period as senior wide receiver Griff Whalen caught senior quarterback Andrew Luck's first TD of the day next to make it 14-0 Cardinal. After the Beavers got on the scoreboard, junior placekicker Eric Whitaker wedged in a 31-yard field goal for a 17-7 lead.

OSU scored to begin the second half to close the deficit down to four, but the ensuing extra point was blocked. However it wasn't until 2:40 left in the third period that Stanford created further separation when Luck found junior RB Stepfan Taylor for a 27-yard strike. Then Luck found senior tight end Coby Fleener in the waning seconds of the period as junior RB Tyler Gaffney ran the only score in for both sides with 6:07 left during the fourth to cap the Cardinal's win.

In Seattle, 6-3, 4-2 Washington fell 34-17 getting outscored by 10 during the third quarter against then Ducks. Junior RB LaMichael James ran in from 18 yards out on Oregon's first offensive possession, but the Duck offense sputtered the rest of the first half for their lowest output of yards during an opening half all season.

Oregon didn't have to turn on the afterburners after the third period with the Huskies unable to strike on the Duck defense who was led by senior safety Eddie Pleasant's two interceptions. Senior TE David Paulson caught junior QB Darron Thomas' only TD throw at the start of the second quarter while in the third junior RB Kenjon Barner and freshman RB De'Anthony Thomas scored on the ground along with sophom
