| Philadelphia Eagles vs. Arizona Cardinals |
The latest sports betting odds on this game and every game in the NFL, can be found at the online sportsbook Bet Phoenix. The Arizona Cardinals had to have extra time to beat the St. Louis Rams, but they will gladly take the 19-13 victory. One of the major factors in the game was the play of 2011 draft pick Patrick Peterson who entered the game leading the league in punt returns with an extraordinary 19.1 yard per return average. In Sunday's game Peterson did something only one other player has done in NFL history. His punt return to end the game in overtime was only the second time in history for this to occur in an overtime game. The punt return was also the second longest punt return in NFL history. In his great play on Sunday, he also had the second interception of his career with the Arizona Cardinals. John Skelton, in his second year with the Cardinals, showed that he was a player to be reckoned with. So far, his quarterback ranking is a measly 85.7, but this young player is really growing. On Sunday, he completed 20 of 35 passes for 222 yards, including one touchdown. His play showed remarkable poise for a young player as he waited patiently for plays to develop. He had 6.3 yards per attempt and no interceptions. Skelton was the leading rusher in Sunday's game with four carries for 38 yards. In fact, some Arizona fans are in no hurry for the injured plagued Kevin Kolb to return to playing. Another young player showed outstanding play on Sunday as Sam Acho started for the second consecutive week replacing Joey Porter. He recorded ten tackles, including two sacks and a forced fumble on Sunday. There seems to be plenty to get excited about in the young players at Arizona. Complimenting the play of Acho was Calais Campbell who had six tackles including one and a half sacks. Arizona would not have won on Sunday if Campbell had not blocked the 42 yard field goal attempt by the St. Louis Rams. On a negative note, the play by Beanie Wells still did not measure up to his play before he was hurt earlier in the season. Against St. Louis, he only carried the ball ten times for a total of 20 yards. 14 of those yards were in one carry in the fourth quarter. The Philadelphia Eagles have been disappointing this year and no more so than in their 30-24 loss to the Chicago Bears. Particularly disappointing has been the play of the wide receivers, DeSean Jackson and Jeremy Maclin. Jackson had just two catches for 16 yards in the loss, while Maclin had just 63 yards. Both players managed to drop several catch-able balls. The defense was definitely lackluster against the Bears. The Eagles must do two things against Arizona if they expect to win. First, they must show a determination on defense to stop their opponents. Secondly, the team must score at least 30 points in each of their remaining games. This will be tough for the Philadelphia Eagles to do. The Eagles now have the reputation of being the worse fourth quarter team in the NFL. They must reverse this trend if they expect to stay in any game. The defense seems to have plenty of talent, but lacks the leadership needed. The only bright spot for the Eagles was the play of LeSean McCoy. McCoy had 16 running carries for a total of 71 yards. He also had 46 passing yards on five catches. McCoy must have a great game against Arizona. The Eagles after losing on Monday Night Football to the Chicago Bears, now have no choice but to try and win out on the season if they have any hopes of getting a playoff spot. If they lose to the Arizona Cardinals it could be a very long season for the Eagles as the dream team will slowly become a nightmare.
