Ball State stayed alive in the conference race with a narrow win over a much improved Eastern Michigan. The Cardinals needed a Steven Schott 44 yard field goal with nine seconds left to end a back and forth affair. Ball State totaled 375 yards and were 2 of 9 on third down as the offense didn’t always make plays but made them when needed. The rushing attack produced just 91 yards on 22 carries for just over four yards per carry with Jahwan Edwards leading the way with 56 yards on 14 tries including a 15 yard scoring run.

Quarterback Keith Wenning made some throws and missed a few, going 20 of 35 for 284 yards with a pair of scores and an interception. The Cardinals defense allowed 501 yards to Eastern Michigan with over 300 yards coming on the ground which resulted in the Eagles owning the ball for 40 minutes.

Chandler Harnish and the offense picked up where they left off from week ten’s offensive explosion by starting fast and never letting up in an easy victory over Bowling Green. The Huskies amassed 623 yards with 27 first downs while controlling the ball for nearly 36 minutes. Key to their success was the ability to both run and pass effectively with the rushing attack stacking up 283 yards and almost 5 ½ yards per carry. Harnish was in his usual leadership role in the ground game with 151 yards on 17 carries and a five yard TD jaunt.

Harnish was even more effective through the air with a 16 of 26 efforts for 294 yards with two scoring tosses and no interceptions. Willie Clark totaled 109 yards on four catches with 37 yard and 56 yard catch and runs for scores. The NIU did the job by holding Bowling Green to 334 yards and preventing Matt Schilz and the passing attack from putting up big numbers.

This is a big game for both teams in the MAC standings and whatever team that loses could be eliminated from playing for a championship.
