A potent offense for Western Michigan simply wasn’t enough in week eleven versus Toledo because the Rockets attack was just a bit more potent. Only in the MAC where a team scores 63 points and it’s not enough as the Broncos found that 635 yards and 32 first downs was only enough to stay competitive. The WMU attack was one dimensional to no surprise because that’s how it’s usually gone down for this team on a weekly basis with any rushing yards being a bonus.

The ground game produced just 87 yards with Tevin Drake responsible for 71 yards on 13 carries. The center of attention was the passing attack led by Alex Carder who was close to unstoppable. Carder was 38 of 59 for 548 yards and an almost laughable seven touchdowns and no picks. Jordan White was on the receiving end of 16 throws for 283 yards with three touchdowns including one that covered 60 yards. The Broncos defense was the unit that struggled, giving up 804 yards and 39 first downs although they forced six turnovers and allowed five touchdowns that covered more than 20 yards.

Miami (Ohio) saw their chance at a postseason berth fall by the wayside in a week eleven loss at Temple in which a slow start on both sides of the ball sealed their fate. The Redhawks moved the ball surprisingly well with 428 yards but their inability to produce on the ground hurt them. The face of the rushing attack was Jason Semmes with 69 yards on 15 totes but Miami didn’t run the ball much past him.

The Redhawks forgo the ground for the air which wasn’t a bad choice with quarterback Zac Dysert carrying the team on his right arm. Dysert was 28 of 37 for 364 yards with three touchdowns and a pair of costly interceptions. Nick Harwell was the target of choice with 15 receptions for 229 yards including touchdown catches of 14 yards and 29 yards. The Redhawks put forth a winnable effort on the defensive side of the ball by holding the Owls to 310 yards but were hurt by three giveaways by the offense that put this unit in a few bad spots.

This game has a low point spread because it could easily be one of the closest games of the week which will make it worth tuning into.
