Two days earlier last week the Falcons were flown over by 7-3, 5-1 Northern Illinois 45-14 on Bowling Green's home field. The Falcons scored 26 seconds into the game on sophomore QB Matt Schilz's 83-yard pass to senior WR Kamar Jorden, but it proved to be fool's gold as the BGU offense only accumulated 334 yards. The Huskies answered 34 seconds later with a 56-yard pass en troute to gaining 634 yards on the Falcon defense. Bowling Green's only other score came with 14 seconds left during the first half with the same scoring combination as the first TD.

Prior the Falcons had been 2-2 at home with their only FBS win over 6-4, 4-3 Temple 13-10 while 6-4, 5-1 Toledo and 6-3, 3-1 Wyoming beat them by one and seven.

All the Bobcats did in away games before stomping on Central Michigan was go 2-2 with wins over 1-9, 0-6 Akron and 4-6, 2-3 New Mexico State and losses at 2-8, 1-5 Buffalo and 7-3, 3-2 Rutgers.
