The Michigan Wolverines improved to 8-2 on the season after defeating the Illinois Fighting Illini 31-14 last weekend. The Wolverines outgained the Illini 362-214 on the day as Illinois was never really in this game getting shut out the entire first half. Denard Robinson was solid once again for the Wolverines, but Michigan is starting to take some of the load off of Robinson's shoulders and give more carries to their very exciting back Fitzgerald Toussaint.

Toussaint rushed for 192 yards against the Illin last weekend on 27 carries. Everyone knew the Wolverine offense would be solid this year, but the big surprise of this Wolverine team is their defense which ranks 5th in the nation in points allowed at 15.5 per game.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers got their eight win of the season last weekend improving their recrod to 8-2 on the year as well. Nebraska faced off against a Penn State squad that was without Joe Paterno for the first time in...well a really long time and the Huskers put up a solid performance.

Nebraska looked to be cruising to the win with the Nittany Lions held off the scoreboard until about five minutes left in the third quarter, but Penn State responded and mounted a comeback making for an interesting finish. Taylor Martinez had a nice day under center throwing for 146 yards and rushing for another 56. Rex Burkhead lead the way on the ground for the Husker offense as the Nebraska back rushed for 121 yards and one score on 25 attempts. The Nebraska defense played solid all game long as the Huskers were able to stop a late comeback attempt by the Nittany Lions and help preserve the victory.

This game could go a long way in deciding the champion as well as bowl projections as the season nears its end.
