It’s been a horrible year for the Ole Miss Rebels which has resulted in Houston Nutt not returning for next season as Head Coach. The Rebels have lost five in a row and seven of their last eight and find themselves in another very rough spot here. Randall Mackey struggled once again last game for the Rebs and Zack Stoudt went into the game but he wasn’t much more effective and the end result was a loss to out of conference Louisiana Tech. Jeff Scott is an amazing athlete but he simply can’t do it himself as he’s rushed for 529 yards and six touchdowns and Brandon Bolden has showed flashes of what was expected of him but his overall numbers are well short of where he had hoped they would be.

Donte Moncrief has 26 catches and four touchdowns and Ja-Mes Logan has 20 catches but no one on the Ole Miss offense has put together any kind of numbers as they have been ineffective. Mississippi’s defense has nine interceptions, 13 sacks, and seven fumble recoveries. Mike Marry has 73 tackles, Charles Sawyer has four interceptions, and Wayne Dorsey has three sacks. A win in this one would save Ole Miss’ season but it would be the highlight.

There is little doubt as the who the number one team in the nation is as Les Miles’ LSU Tigers are the consensus choice. It’s been a dream run for LSU have played a tough schedule and still have run the table thus far and with two games left to go in the regular season, the SEC West title and a spot in the SEC Championship is in their sights. Jordan Jefferson looks to be back as the starting QB for the Tigers and in limited action he has completed 58.8 percent of his passes for three touchdowns and no interceptions while running for another 174 yards and two touchdowns.

Spencer Ware and Michael Ford continue to split time in the backfield and each offers something a little different but both ave been equally effective rushing for over 1,150 yards and 12 touchdowns between them both. Rueben Randle has 38 catches and eight touchdowns and Odell Beckham, Jr.has31. LSU’s defense has been impressive allowing just 10.7 yards per game while getting 14 interceptions, 24 sacks, and seven fumble recoveries. Eric Reid and Brandon Taylor have 57 tackles each and Sam Montgomery has seven sacks. LSU knows as well as anyone that none of their opponents are simply going to roll over for them.

This is the championship game for the Rebels and the only thing they will have to play for is an upset win against the best team in the country.
