Freshman placekicker Trevor Romaine sank the first points of the game from 32 yards away and made a 46-yard field goal at the end of the first half for the only blood drawn by the Beavs in Berkeley. With only 27 yards rushing freshman quarterback Sean Mannion was probably asked to do too much completing 25/of/39 passes for 247 yards and two interceptions. As well Mannion took two sacks as the offense looked star-gazed. Kickoff returns were one of the few positive areas for Oregon State with freshman wide receiver Brandin Cooks returning five KOs for 119 yards. The Beavers are really bad, but if it's possible OSU will see a team even worse than them defensively next week in Washington who was shattered 40-17 at 8-2, 5-2 Southern California. As bad as it was it could have been worse with the Trojans taking their foot off the gas pedal during the fourth quarter only tallying three points three seconds into the final period. Scoring for the Huskies were senior PK Eric Folk with his foot, junior running back Chris Polk with his legs and freshman QB Nick Montana with his arm finding freshman WR Kasen Williams in the back of the end zone. Montana came in for sophomore QB Keith Price who was taken out midway through the game. UW was a sad 2/for/13 on third down largely because they couldn't gain yards via the ground game. Altogether the Huskies had 36 yards rushing. The disappointing performance at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum comes off the heels of falling 65-21 at BCS' No. 9 Stanford. As well Washington was blown up by No. 16 Nebraska and won 31-14 at 6-4, 3-4 Utah. While this game may seem easy to predict anything can happen in the Pac-12 when two teams take to the field searching for a victory.
