Green Bay Packers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Green Bay Packers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers

The Green Bay Packers attempt to go undefeated on the season, but if they plan on this approach they will have to take down the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The latest odds for this exciting NFL game and all of the great wagering action on the gridiron can be found at Bet Phoenix.

he "Battle of the Bays" takes place this Sunday at Green Bay's legendary Lambeau Field when the Tampa Bay Buccaneers come calling for a scheduled 1:00 PM kickoff. The Packers, defending Super Bowl champions, are -13 point favorites, according to the NFL's odds.

At the beginning of the season, the Buccaneers were a popular dark-horse favorite to make some noise in the NFC, but instead, coach Raheem Morris' team has been the epitome of inconsistency, chalking up a 4-5 won-loss mark. Their third straight loss this past Sunday, a 37-9 at-home rout at the hands of the Houston Texans was the second one-sided loss for the Bucs in 2011.

The game started off bad for the Bucs, with WR Jacoby Jones hauling in an 80-yard scoring pass from QB Matt Schaub on the Texans first play from scrimmage. It didn't get any better for the host Bucs, who trailed 30-3 before reaching the end zone early in the fourth-quarter. Bucs QB Josh Freeman suffered one of his worst days as a starter, connecting on just 15 of 33 pass attempts for 170 yards. Freeman was also intercepted 3 times by Houston, the NFL's top-ranked defense. Tampa collected only 231 yards on offense, and the ground game, hoping to bounce back after several weeks of sub-par performances, gained just 90 yards on 18 carries.

The Bucs on defense weren't exactly awe-inspiring either, unable to slow down Houston's impressive ground game. Arian Foster led the Texans with 84 yards on 17 carries, while his backup, Ben Tate, chipped in with 63 on 13 attempts. Each RB also scored a touchdown as Houston won its fourth straight and improved their AFC South leading record to 7-3. One somewhat bright spot for Tampa's defense was newly-acquired DT Albert Haynesworth, obtained from New England earlier in the week. The former recorded 5 tackles and blocked an extra-point attempt in his first appearance in a Bucs uniform. Tampa's defense overall however, was forced to be on the field much too long, losing the time of possession battle convincingly, 35:06 to 24:54.

Coming off their bye week and the NFL's only remaining undefeated team at 9-0, the Packers, with a 2 1/2 game lead in the NFC North, were eager to get back into action and see if their balanced attack is still clicking. Monday Night's game versus Minnesota proved they've not lost any momentum, as they steamrolled the hapless Vikings, 45-7. QB Aaron Rodgers, probably the leading contender for NFL MVP, continued his sterling play, throwing 4 TD passes while completing 23 of 30 passes for 250 yards. Rookie Randall Cobb got things going, returning the Vikings first punt after a 3-and-out 80 yards for a touchdown.

Despite a sometimes shaky pass defense (surrendering right at 300 yards per game, 31st-ranked), the swarming Packer defense compensates by keeping relentless pressure on opposing QBs and forcing turnovers. LB Clay Matthews, NT B.J. Raji and DBs Charles Woodson and Tramon Williams are Allpro Bowl-caliber performers, and defensive coordinator Dom Capers is unmatched at anticipating opposing offenses' next move.

Josh Freeman, once regarded as a rising star in just his third season, has appeared to lose some confidence, and his teammates haven't stepped up to fill the void. If they plan on playing into January, they need to turn things around, and quickly. Buccaneers vs Titans is what's next for Tampa, and for the last thing they can do is lost past a hot Aaron Rodgers. For the Packers, they just keep rolling along, either bludgeoning their opponents with long plays from all over the field, or shutting down offenses with their patented brand of chaos which can totally overwhelm.

The Pack travels to Detroit for a Thanksgiving Packers vs Lions NFC North matchup, causing them to play 3 games in 10 days, which might be the only way to slow them down. If the Packers get caught looking ahead in this game they may just lose their first game of the year.
