| NFL Week 14 New England Patriots vs. Washington Redskins |
The latest odds for this game and all of the other exciting games in week 14 in the NFL can be found at the top rated sportsbook, Bet Phoenix. Rex Grossman said there was a 3-5 percent chance that the Redskins could go on a run. Then they went out and lost to the New York Jets. This means that when the Washington Redskins go on to host the New England Patriots on Sunday, there won't be much on the line. All they have to play for is pride, and hope to pull off an upset on Sunday. The Patriots have plenty to play for when they go to Washington. They are looking to go to 10-3 on the season and move forward towards the playoffs. Locking up the AFC East and a top 2 seed in the AFC are still real possibilities with a win on Sunday. They will need help from Pittsburgh, Houston and Baltimore though. Another motivating factor that the Patriots will have is the way they finished the game against Indianapolis last week. While they won the game, and had it in control for most of the game, they allowed 21 points in the 4th quarter and almost squandered the game. The Hoodie isn't going to be happy with that and he will have his guys focused. Look for the Patriots to go for a big play early to set the tone. For Washington, the big key will be Rex Grossman limiting the number of mistakes he makes. While he generally has played well, he always seems to have a play or two that will leave you scratching your head. Whether it be a throw into triple coverage, or taking a bad sack, he just isn't as consistent as you would like. Santana Moss has returned for Washington, and he has helped take pressure off of the passing game. he is a speedy target who can make tough catches and make his quarterback look good. Roy Helu will have to have a big game for the Redskins this week carrying the ball. If the offense can keep pace and not make many mistakes, they could keep themselves in the game for longer than people expect. If Washington is going to win on defense, it has to keep Wes Welker in check and pressure Brady early and often. Brian Orakpo and Ryan Kerrigan are two players who are skilled at rushing the passer. If Brady gets rattled it will lead to bad passes and bad decisions. Brady needs to be able to throw to Welker, or establish his running game, if there is pressure in the backfield, it will be hard to get either. The only thing that Washington has going for it right now is that the game will be at home. The fans are going to have to get behind their team, even if it is December and the playoffs are not a viable goal to reach. The Pats offense will need to take the crowd out early, which may prove to be relatively easy. Next week, the New England Patriots will be taking on the Denver Broncos and Tim Tebow in Denver. This will be an interesting match-up for both teams as the Broncos are suddenly hot behind the unlikely starter in Tim Tebow. As for the Redskins, they will go to MetLife Stadium to take on the New York Giants in a divisional match-up in which the Redskins could play spoiler. Divisional rivalry games are always fun no matter what the records may be. Right now, the Patriots are favored to win the game by 7.5 points. That line is another big one based on how well the Patriots are playing right now. The Redskins will try and pull off the upset in this contest.
