| NFL Week 14 Philadelphia Eagles vs. Miami Dolphins |
The latest odds for this game and all of the other exciting games in week 14 in the NFL can be found at the top rated sportsbook, Bet Phoenix. As they head into the final stretch of what has become a miserable season, the Philadelphia Eagles travel to south Florida to take on the Miami Dolphins this Sunday at Sun Life Stadium. Kickoff is set for 1:00 PM, and the Dolphins are -3 point favorites going by the early betting line. Tied for last place with Washington in the NFC East with a 4-8 W-L mark isn't exactly where neither Eagle players, coaches or fans expected to be three months ago. Most "experts" predicted that the team would be among the NFC's elite, and a Super Bowl appearance wouldn't have been a preposterous goal. Instead, in early December, rumors are swirling around as to the team's future, most notably Andy Reid, who is the current longest-tenured (13th season) head coach in the NFL. The Eagle's most recent loss, a 31-14 rout in Seattle this past Thursday, was almost painful to watch. Normally, Reid-coached teams are fundamentally sound and play intelligently, but that was not the case Sunday. QB Vince Young, starting his third game in place of the injured Michael Vick, threw a career-worst four interceptions, and Seattle RB Marshawn Lynch routinely ran over, around and through would-be Eagle tacklers for a season-high 148 yards and two TDs. Young finished with a miserable QB rating of 52.7 on 17 of 29 passing for 208 yards and the afore-mentioned four INTs. RB LaSean McCoy, Philadelphia's lone bright spot all season, rushed for 84 yards and caught four passes for 49 yards as well as scoring both of the Eagles touchdowns. Philadelphia's most explosive player, WR DeSean Jackson, a week after drawing criticism for his timid play against New England, was a non-factor, catching four passes for 34 yards. LB Jamar Chaney and safeties Nate Allen and Kurt Coleman combined for 35 tackles to lead the defense, but mediocre tackling and mistakes on zone responsibilities were major factors in allowing the Seahawks, far from an offensive juggernaut, to pile up 174 yards rushing. After an 0-7 start, Miami head coach Tony Sparano could have related to what Andy Reid is going through presently. Instead of folding up their tent and looking forward to 2012 however, the Dolphins, through determination and stressing the fundamentals, managed to execute a near 180-degree turnaround and have now won four out of five and are playing as well as any team in the AFC. QB Matt Moore, after a shaky start in his role as signal-caller, has proven to be an effective, intelligent NFL QB. In Miami's most recent victory, a 34-14 shellacking of the Oakland Raiders this past Sunday, Moore turned in a workman-like 13 of 25, 162 yard performance in a contest that saw the Dolphins up 34-0 after three quarters. RB Reggie Bush galloped for 100 yards on 22 carries as Miami piled up a season-high 209 yards on the ground. The Dolphin's whopping 38:20 to 21:40 advantage in time-of-possession demonstrated their complete dominance. Defensively, Miami doesn't boast any familiar superstars or headline performers, just blue-collar, slug- it-out over-achievers who swarm to the ball and are rarely out of position. LB Kevin Burnett did have a standout moment when he picked off a Carson Palmer pass and returned it 34 yards for a touchdown. As well as Miami is playing, opposed to how poor Philadelphia's "Dream Team" has been recently, -3 points might be optimistic on the part of the oddsmakers. It's been reported that Vick (injured ribs) may be able to return on Sunday, but even if he does, it probably won't be nearly enough. The Eagles host the New York Jets next Sunday before wrapping up their season with division rivals Dallas and Washington. Miami, with a goal of finishing at .500, travel to Buffalo next Sunday, followed by a trip to New England before closing the season at home against the Jets. The Dolphins are playing impressive football, but if the Eagles are 100 percent healthy they could provide a very tough challenge for the Fins.

After failing to win in the first seven weeks of the season, the Miami Dolphins are one of the hottest teams in the NFL.
