For the latest odds on this game and the entire great college football bowl schedule, stop by and check out online sportsbook Bet Phoenix. The San Diego State Aztecs are playing in a bowl game for the second time in two years and after winning four of their last five games and Rocky Long’s team appear to be playing their best football of the season. While there was somewhat modest expectations for SDSU after the departure of Brady Hoke, they got it done and probably mildly exceeded those expectations. Ryan Lindley has completed 52.5 percent of his passes with 20 touchdowns and eight interceptions. Ronnie Hillman has been sensational carrying the football averaging 5.8 yards per carry for 1,656 yards and 19 touchdowns. Colin Lockett has 52 catches and five touchdowns, Gavin Escobar has 47 catches and seven touchdowns, and Dylan Denso has 44 catches. The San Diego State defense has 28 sacks, 14 interceptions, and 13 fumble recoveries and a plus 11 turnover ratio. The Aztec defense is allowing 24.4 points per game and 376.5 yards. Miles Burris has 72 tackles and 8.0 sacks, Jerome Long has 69 tackles and 5.0 sacks, and Larry Parker has seven interceptions. All four of San Diego State’s losses came to bowl teams: Michigan, Wyoming, Boise State, and TCU. The UL Lafayette Ragin’ Cajuns are making their first bowl appearance in 41 years and while programs like this are rarely mentioned for honors coach Mark Hudspeth deserves at least a look as the Coach of the Year and more than likely has a busy phone these days. At least on publication ranked ULL 114th in the nation before the season started and I don’t see too many having them much higher. Blaine Gautier has completed 63.2 percent of his passes with 20 touchdowns and five interceptions while rushing for 464 yards and three touchdowns. Alonzo Harris gained 638 yards on the ground and scored eight touchdowns and Qyenda Griffin scored three times on the ground. Javone Lawson has 54 catches and six touchdowns, Harry Peoples has 53 catches, and Ladarius Green has 46 catches. Defensively ULL has 27 sacks, 14 interceptions, and nine fumble recoveries for a plus one turnover ratio. The Ragin’ Cajuns allow 29.8 points and 393.2 yards per game. Lance Kelley has 107 tackles, three sacks, and three interceptions, Devon Lewis Buchanan has 78 tackles, and Bernard Smith has 6.5 sacks. ULL ended the season with two consecutive losses. ULL will need to try and break this losing streak in the bowl game as they attempt to win a bowl game for the first time in a very long time.
