The 7-5, 5-4 Washington Huskies try to stun another bowl opponent this year after last season getting even with Nebraska at the Holiday Bowl. UW goes after another big win against a Big 12 opponent in the BCS' No. 12 Baylor Bears and 2011 Heisman Winner junior quarterback Robert Griffin III in 2011. The 7-6, 5-4 Huskies conquered the 10-4, 6-3 Cornhuskers 19-7 in the rematch after being destroyed 56-21 at home. 9-3, 6-3 BU is practically the home team during this affair in San Antonio at the Valero Alamo Bowl. The Bears were among the nation's most dangerous offenses with Griffin, but conversely on defense gave up a boatload of points including 48 to No. 18 Texas Christian in a win during their opener. Later in the year Baylor blasted No. 24 Texas 48-24 to close out the regular season. The Bears scored the first 14 points of the game on a Griffin touchdown to senior wide receiver Kendall Wright along with senior running back Terrance Ganaway's first of two rushing TDs. Griffin's TD to Wright came 22 seconds into the game. However the 7-5, 4-5 Longhorns bounced back with three straight scores to take a 21-14 lead until sophomore placekicker Aaron Jones booted through a 22-yard field goal, one of two for the day. Griffin then ran two more in before rounding out the scoring during the fourth period on a 39-yard rifle to junior WR Terrence Williams. In another regular-season finale Washington walloped 4-8, 2-7 Washington State 38-21. The Huskies' 14-0 lead was quickly erased by the Cougars, but scoring WSU's second TD with 2:05 to go during the second quarter proved to be too much time as sophomore QB Keith Price found freshman WR Kasen Williams for their second touchdown exchange of the game capping a crisply run two-minute offense. Sophomore RB Jesse Callier scored on a two-yard block punt return to begin the game as junior RB Chris Polk ran two in during the second half. Senior PK Eric Folk, 1-for-2 for the day on FGs, added a 46-yarder to put UW up by two scores at the start of the fourth period. Washington will get overlooked as they enter this game but they could easily upset the Bears with a good outing.
