Rutgers was routed 40-22 at 5-7, 3-4 Connecticut to close out their regular season several weeks ago. The Knights got on the scoreboard twice during the first half with senior placekicker San San Te booting through a 25-yard field goal and sophomore running back Jawan Jamison running in from a yard out. Unfortunately for Rutgers, the Huskies had a fumble return for a touchdown in between and outscored the Scarlet Knights 14-0 and 16-0 during the first and third quarter. The only period which Rutgers outscored UConn in was the fourth, but after freshman quarterback Gary Nova's 17-yard and 92-yard passes to sophomore wide receiver Brandon Coleman, the Knights failed on two two-point conversions. Conversely ISU fell 30-23 during their last regular-season game this year at the BCS' No. 8 Kansas State. The 10-2, 7-2 Wildcats denied the Cyclones the upset by scoring on the ensuing possession after Iowa State had squared the score at 23 with 6:12 to go. Senior PK Zach Guyer made a 43-yard field goal to square the score, but after sophomore RB Jeff Woody's first TD of the day Guyer's extra point was blocked to only put the Cyclones ahead 13-7 after one. Freshman QB Jared Barnett found senior WR Darius Darks for a 30-yard strike to begin three scores within 1:50 of each other at the end of the first quarter. Ironically ISU this season has scored 23.5 points per game while allowing 29.6 which was practically the differential at KSU. Overall on the road the Cyclones are 2-4 including dumping the Huskies at Connecticut on Sept. 16 24-20. Iowa State however lost their next four straight, all by at least two scores, until routing 5-7, 2-7 Texas Tech in an away game. Rutgers basically has a home field advantage as they play in this general area on a regular basis, but Iowa State has pulled off upsets already this year and will try and do it again.
