The Aggies blew big leads against the BCS' No. 6 Arkansas and No. 3 Oklahoma State in back-to-back weeks just to name two examples of their woefulness. A three-game winning streak however hushed criticism until Oct. 29 against 7-5, 5-4 Missouri. The Tigers won 38-31 in overtime thanks to another Texas A&M collapse. This time the Aggies only led by 11 at the break courtesy of Missou making a field goal at the halftime gun. Senior placekicker Randy Bullock's 35-yard FG was the only points for the Aggies during the second half as neither team scored during the third. Senior quarterback Ryan Tannehill found senior running back Cyrus Gray, junior tight end Michael Lamothe and junior wide receiver Ryan Swope for touchdowns while running one in too during the first half. Texas A&M went on to lose three straight and four of five. Overall on the road the Aggies are 2-2 while going 0-1 at neutral sites. NW started the year 2-0, but five straight losses including four straight in the Big Ten had the 'Cats uncertain about their bowl fate. That's when back-to-back away wins changed their season. After Northwestern won 59-38 at 1-11, 0-8 Indiana, the Wildcats knocked off No. 20 Nebraska 28-25. NW and the Cornhuskers alternated scores throughout, but NU settling for three on their first scoring possession proved to be the difference. The 'Cats scored first on senior RB Jacob Schmidt's two-yard run while sophomore QB Kain Colter's three-yard run pushed Northwestern ahead by 11 to begin the third period. Then at the start of the fourth Colter's 81-yard bomb to senior WR Jeremy Ebert regained the Wildcats' 11-point lead. Colter's one-yard run with 1:34 to go put NW up by 10 before giving up a late score to make things interesting all the way through. Now Northwestern will try to air it out against an Aggies team that is looking or an identity after stumbling down the stretch.
