| Ravens blanked the Browns 16-0 |
The Ravens’ defense again punished Browns’ QB Braddy Quinn who had been benched at the half in their first meeting.Things didn’t get any better on his return as the Browns never crossed Baltimore’s 45. Following his second interception Quinn dropped and rolled into LB Terrell Suggs right knee ,drawing a 15 yards penalty that enraged Ray Lewis. “That’s an illegal blow”said Lewis “I don’t care how you want to look at it.” Terrell Suggs limped to the locker room for X-rays,it’s not known for how long he’ll be out. Lewis retaliated with another vicious(legal) hit on Quinn who said that his chop block on Suggs wasn’t intentional. Browns’ Josh Cribbs got hurt in the last play of the game. With seconds to go and down 16-0,the Browns were still fighting for yards, and when Josh Cribbs went lateral to TE Robert Royal he got drilled on the chin after he released the ball by Ravens’ DE Dwan Edwards as the clock expired. Players of both teams knelt down in prayer as Cribbs laid motionless on the field.Royal said Cribbs was making jokes and moving arms and legs before he was taken off the field. Ravens’DE Trevor Pryce didn’t think much of Browns coach Eric Mangini’s decision to run a dangerous play in a game that was over.”You do a hook-and –lateral play with a bunch of guys that are big and run fast, people are running around crazy and someone is going to get hurt.”Pryce said. These were the unfortunate noticeable plays of an otherwise forgotable game. Ravens’QB Joe Flacco connected with Derrick Mason who ran to the Browns 13 on the opening drive of the third quarter.RB Ray Rice took it in the end zone on the nex play.Flacco was 13 of 18 for 155 yards and Rice rushed for 89 yards and 1TD in 20 carries. On the next snap Steven Hauschka intercepted Quinn and returned it untouched for a 48-yard TD. Quinn went 13 of 31 for 99 yards and threw two INTs. There isn’t much to say about the Browns, owner Randy Lerner is looking for a football executive to run the operations, and the sooner he does it the better for his franchise and the team. Baltimore, with the win,as uggly as it might be,is back in the race for the postseason at 5-4.Cincinnati has a dominating lead at 7-2 in the AFC North,as they swept Pittsburgh (6-3) Sunday night after also beating the Ravens in both season games. The Ravens, however, will have to play better the rest of the season if they want a shot at a wild card. Meanwhile, the next two home games might decide their fate as the undefeated Colts come to Baltimore on Sunday, and division archrivals Pittsburgh visits for Sunday Night Football next week. It wasn’t pretty, Baltimore’s offense looked disorganised and impotent in the first half of the game.Everything changed as the Ravens (5-4) scored two touchdowns in 17 seconds to open the third quarter, and with a field goal in the same period blanked the Cleveland Browns (1-8) 16-0.
