When most people thought that the Patriots would end the Saints undefeated season,Brees just picked apart New England’s defense to keep New Orleans perfect at 11-0.He became the first QB to throw 5 TD passes against defense-guru head coach Bill Belichick, and also the first one to score 3 passing TDs in one quarter against him (in the 2nd,hitting Pierre Thomas,Devery Henderson and Robert Meachem from 18, 75 and 38 yards). Brees went 18 of 23 for a career-high 371 yards and no interception, and got a perfect passer rating of 158.3 in the 38-17 routing of the Pats.He leads the league with 27 touchdown passes, completed 68.8 % of his attempts for 3117 yards and was picked off 9 times. Peyton Manning, however, could very well be elected MVP at the end of the regular season, and it wouldn’t be surprising as the Colts’ QB is doing a great job keeping Indianapolis unbeaten with less talent at his disposal than Brees has in New Orleans. Manning will have to play better in the last 5 games than he did in the last 3(he threw 2 INTs in each of those games), if he is to top Brees for the Award. He completed 70.4 % of his passes for a total 3415 yards,24 TDs and 11 INTs. And YES,the 40-year-young Brett Favre is in the mix for the MVP Award !! The Vikings’QB is having fun this season, coming out of retirement to help Minnesota reach the Super Bowl.Favre has by far the best pass/interception differential of the NFL with 24 TDs and only 3 INTs. In Sunday’s game against Chicago Favre went 32 of 48 for 392 yards and 3 TDs,while his young counterpart Bears’ QB Jay Cutler was 18 of 23 for 147 yards 1 TD and 2 INTs. Cutler had his head down on his chest in the sideline, watching the old master at work.Favre may not be doing as much for the team, compare to Brees and Manning,as he’s got argueably the best RB in Adrian Peterson to rely on,but he took the game against the Bears on his shoulders and delivered in stride as the great champion he is. Finally,a case could be made for Tennesse’s RB Chris Johnson, who,in only his second year,is having the kind of year that might be one of the best ever in the NFL by a running back. In 11 games Johnson has gained 1396 yards in 217,averaging 6.43 yds,and 9 TDs. He’s rushed for more than 125 yds in 6 consecutive games, and the Titans have won 5 straight since starting 0-6. What ‘s going to be the tiebreaker between the three best quarterbacks of the league this season ? Well, there is 5 games left to play and the most consistant will get the Award.
