Cardinals impressive in 30-17 win over Vikings
Cardinals impressive in 30-17 win over Vikings The Arizona Cardinals (8-4) handed the Minnesota Vikings(10-2) their second defeat of the season,in impressive manner.

Every game is hard to win in the NFL,especially at this stage of the season, but nobody could have imagine that Kurt Warner and the Cardinals would totally dominate the red-hot Brett Favre and Vikings on both sides of the ball during over 50 minutes of the game.

Arizona came prepared with the best posible receipe for victory:

The defense pressured Favre relentlessly, sacked him 3 times, and picked him off twice when the Vikings’ QB had only 3 interceptions in the previous 11 games. They also incredibly held star RB Adrian Peterson to 19 yards rushing in 13 carries.

The offense-line never allowed Minnesota’s mighty front four to get to Kurt Warner, who picked apart the Vikings’secondary on 22 completions of 32 attemtps for 285 yards and 3 TDs,no INT and no sack.

Easy,isn’t it ?

The Cardinals made it look that way as it was one of the most one-sided game I have seen this season against a team with big aspirations to the Super Bowl.

“They played like they were in the Super Bowl last year” Favre said “and we obviously have to play better if we want to be the team that’s in the Super Bowl this year.”

Favre had 2 TD passes, one to give Minnesota a 7-0 lead with 9:47 left in the first quarter, and the second with 1:20 left in the game to set the final score at 30-17 Arizona. In between, the Cardinals scored 30 points while the Vikings only got a field goal with 1:55 left in the first half.

The Cardinals secondary did a fantastic job covering the Vikings receivers one on one, giving Favre few open targets, while the front D-line pressure him and took him out of his comfort zone. The tackling was outstanding,Peterson gained a mere 19 yds, when last year he rushed for 165 yds on the same field when Minnesota beat Arizona 35-14.

Arizona’s D-line and O-line won the physical battle against their Minnesota’s counterparts, controlling the game on defense and offense.

It got even worse when Vikings’ star LB E.J. Henderson unfortunately broke his leg late in the game,he’ll require surgery and is out for the season.

38-year old Kurt Warner, who missed a game for a concussion, came back to win the duel of the “old-boys”against 40-year old Brett Favre, and said. “It shows we can play with anybody,we can play with the big dogs. The key for us is to show up that way every week.”

The only fact to reminber for Favre,in this othewise forgettable Sunday night,is that with his first snap he broke the NFL’s record of consecutive starts by a non-kicker, putting it at 283.

The victory gives Arizona a three-game lead in the NFC West, and they could clinch the division with a win at San Francisco on Monday night next week.
