TNF Steelers – Browns Preview
TNF Steelers – Browns Preview The Super Bowl defending champions Pittsburgh Steelers (6-6) have no room for error after losing against Oackland last Sunday, their fourth consecutive loss following five straight wins.

Pittsburgh was 6-2 when AFC North rival Cincinnati (9-3) swept the series with a 18-12 win at Heinz Field.Since then the Steelers have lost 3 games by 3 points, and find themselves chasing a wild card with Denver at 8-4,Jacksonville at 7-5 and Miami,Baltimore and the New York Jets at 6-6.

The Steelers’ defense, without star safety Troy Polamalu, has blown 4 fourth-quarter leads in the last 3 losses, the worst against the Oackland’s ranked-31st offense of the league. They allowed the Raiders to score 3 touchdowns in less than 9 minutes, each one to regain the lead and take a stunning 27-24 victory at Heinz Field.

Polamalu had 3 interceptions in the only full 3 games he played, but no Pittsburgh cornerback has a pick.Does one guy makes that much difference?

“I’m not going to make excuses”said Pittsburgh coach Mike Tomlin “I think we’re capable of playing winning football with or without Troy. Are we different?Yes,because Troy is a unique individual...”

A week after Tomlin said his team “doesn’t blink in the face of adversity” and would “unleashed hell in December”,he’s making changes in the secondary, and will have rookie receiver Mike Wallace starting for Hines Ward who suffered an armstring injury against the Raiders.

A confidence, due to a schedule which seemed favorable, was brought down in flammes with the highly unexpected loss to Oackland last Sunday.

Pittsburgh will look for its 13th straight victory against the Browns in Cleveland, but it will be an uphill battle for the Steelers to get a berth in the postseason.

Cleveland has made some changes since their 27-14 defeat at Pittsburgh on Oct.18.Brady Quinn has been the starting QB in the last 4 games, replacing Derek Anderson.

Quinn has been solid and hasn’ thrown an interception in his last 3 starts. He’s never taken a snap against the Steelers.

The Browns offense has shown signs of improvement, the defense, however, remains their main concern. They are last in the league, allowing an average of 400.3 yards per game.

I expect Pittsburgh to have a big game,to make a statement and regain confidence to make a run at a wild card playoff spot.
