MNF Cardinals – 49ers Preview
MNF Cardinals – 49ers Preview The Arizona Cardinals (8-4) need one victory to clinch the NFC West for the second consecutive year.If they play like they did last Sunday night against Minnesota, there is no doubt they will get it in San Francisco Monday night.

The Cardinals dominated the Vikings on both sides of the ball in the 30-17 victory.Kurt Warner threw for 285 yards and 3TDs,Larry Fitzgerald caught 8 passes for 143 yards and 1TD and Anquan Boldin caught 7 for 98 yards and 2 TDs.

That game was a reminder of Arizona’s last season run at the Super Bowl. The offense is working perfectly,Warner has passed for 1,089 yds and 12 TDs with no interceptions for a 132.2 rating in winning his last four starts.

San Francisco (5-7) opened the season with a 20-16 win at Arizona, but they will face a much improve team this time.

Alex Smith is the 49ers starting quarterback since late October, and is taking the offense through the air.Smith, the No1 overall pick in 2005,completed 27 of 45 passes for a career-high 310 yds and 2 TDs last Sunday in the 20-17 loss to Seattle.

Smith’s career-day was ruined by a number of mistakes, and the 49ers suffered their 6th defeat in 8 games.

“In every situation,we just found a way to screw it up”said 49ers coach Mike Singletary “Teams that talk to going to the playoffs can’t do that.”

Smith has revived San Francisco’s passing attack,he threw for 769 yds and 7 TDs with only 1 INT in his last 3 games, and the 49ers have almost abandoned their running game.RB Frank Gore has run for 117 yds and no TD in his last 3 games after rushing for 278 adn 3 TDs in the previous 3.

San Francisco faces the Cardinals defense that’s coming out of his best performance of the season against Minnesota.Star RB Adrian Peterson was held to 19 yards in 11 carries, and Brett Favre was sacked 3 times.Under constant pressure the Vikings QB was picked twice, when he had only 3 INTs in the 11 previous games.

Arizona has every facet of the game clicking together at the right time, they will win in San Francisco and clinch the NFC West for the second straight year,a feat they haven’t accomplished since taking the NFC East in 1974-75.
