Saturday night Cowboys – Saints Preview
Saturday night Cowboys – Saints Preview New Orleans (13-0) has clinched a first-round bye in the playoffs with a 26-23 win at Atlanta last Sunday. They also set a franchise record for wins, but it hasn’t been easy as the Saints came back for an improbable 33-30 victory in overtime at Washington two weeks ago.

QB Drew Brees, however,is not concerned with final scores,he completed 73 % of his passes with 13 TDs and only one interception in his last 4 games.

“What’s important to me is that we’re making the plays in crunch time..”said Brees “We call that being battle-tested.They’re only going to get harder from here on out. We’re going to get everyone’s best game.”

Visiting Dallas (8-5) is suffering from the December syndrome. After winning 6 of 7 games they started the month with back-to-back losses. They were 8-4 last season going into December, exactly in the same position, they finished 1-3 and missed the playoffs when they lost the last game of the season 44-6 at Philadelphia.

The Cowboys dropped one game behind the Eagles in the NFC East with a 20-17 loss to SanDiego on Sunday. They still could win the division with a 3-0 finish as they host the Eagles in the regular-season finale.

Tony Romo threw for 641 yds,5 Tds and no INT in the past 2 games, but didn’t do enough to win in either of them,he’s 5-10 in December starts.

The Saints have played a big part in Dallas’ December meltdown. They won five straight over the Cowboys, all in December, and Brees threw for 384 yds and 5 TDs in the 42-17 rout in their last meeting Dec.10 2006.

Brees has 18 TDs and 3 INTs in New Orleans’ six home games, and the offense averaged 36.7 points.

The Saints should get a boost with the return to the Superdome after two close calls on the road. The support of the New Orleans crowd will do marvels for a defense which looked worn down in the last two contests.

The Cowboys defense might be whithout its best pass rusher,as DeMarcus Ware is doubtful after suffering a sprained-neck injury against the Chargers. This is bad news for Dallas who will have to put pressure on Brees to have a chance to win.

The Cowboys have been struggling to score, against the prolific Saints’offense and their ability to put points on the board when it counts I don’t see how Romo could stop another December loss in New Orleans.

The Saints will go 14-0,keeping pace with the undefeated Colts who won 35-31 at Jacksonville Thursday night.
