With a victory the Chargers would clinch the second spot in the AFC and a first round bye.They won their fourth consecutive division title with Sunday’s 27-24 victory over the Bengals. Five weeks later the Chargers beat the Titans again,this time in the playoffs in San Diego. We can expect a tough game on Christmas Day as both teams will have plenty hard tackles and blows in their gift bags.That should be fun to watch. “I don’t know if there’s going any hugs and gift exchanges going on”said Phillips “There’ll be some elbows and knees going on.But it’ll be fun.We look forward to the challenge of stopping Chris Johnson and Vince Young.” Titans’ Chris Johnson is the NFL’s rushing leader,he had his ninth straight 100-yd game in Sunday’s 27-24 overtime win over Miami.Vince Young has led Tennesse to 7 wins out of 8 games since he’s back as starting QB. Merriman missed the next game after the 2007 regular.season game against the Titans, then played in the last 2 and in the 3 playoffs games.However,he missed the 2008 season for reconstructive knee surgery after playing in the opening game. Merriman said this game is bigger than him still being mad,but hasn’t forgotten. “It’s going to be a physical game” he said “How much extra stuff that’s going on is not going to depend on us.It’s always going to be on them because that’s the kind of guys they are...” and “You don’t go after specific players or do things that jeopardize careers.And that’s the kind of guys they are.” Both teams have something to play for besides settling two-year-old grudges,it will be a hard-fought entertaining contest between two red-hot teams.
