With a first prize of $10 million everyone is trying to get a shot at the Trophy and the cash. The last tournament of the season is the Wyndham Championship. From there the 125 top players will play in The Barclays,1st playoff, after that the field is reduced to 100 at the Deutsche Bank Championship,to 70 at the BMW Championship and finally to 30 in the last Playoff at THE TOUR Chiampionship. Each of the regular season events gives 500 pts to the winner,600 if it is a Major Tournament. In the Playoffs the winner receives 2.500 pts Last year Vijay Singh sealed the victory winning the first 2 Playoffs,it will not be the case in 2009 as the structure of the competition will garantee the Trophy and the $ 10 millions to anyone in the top 5 who would win the last Playoff event, THE TOUR Championship. More excitment and a chance for the top 5 players of the Fedex leaderboard to take their destiny in their own hands.Who do you think could do it ? At this point Tiger Woods leads with 2,051 pts after his win last Sunday, followed by Kenny Perry, Zach Johnson, Phil Mickelson and Steve Stricker. There is 9 tournaments left before the Playoffs, the fight for points is fierce at the top but even more around the 125th spot as all players want an opportunity to enter the field at The Barclays on August 27-30. On Thursday we will be at the John Deere Classic where Kenny Perry will defend the title and have a chance to regain the 1st spot on the Fedex Cup standings. Tiger Woods(who else?) won the first edition of the Fedex Cup in 2007,Vijay Singh the second last year. Great competition to follow,I will keep you posted. Would you like to put a bet on golf?
