| Alfred Dunhill Championship Preview |
If you like to watch golf and want to try and win a few bucks, why not bet on it, using the latest odds and matchups wagering at Bet Phoenix. Pablo Martín returns to Leopard Creek Golf Club in South Africa to try and defend his title again. Having won in 2009 and 2010 the Spaniard is a top priced 33/1 shot to record an unprecedented third straight victory in a European Tour event. The Alfred Dunhill Links Championship is also part of the Sunshine Tour. Joint favourite in the betting is local favourite Thomas Aiken, who can be backed at best odds of 14/1 .. The 28 year old won his first European Tour title in May when he recorded a two shot victory at the Open de España. He also has seven Sunshine Tour wins, the last of which came in 2008. His best finish in this tournament came in 2009 when he finished fourth. Aiken holds the course record at Leopard Creek with an 11-under par 61. George Coetzee is another South African player at the top of the betting and is quoted at 14/1 Coetzee won on the Sunshine Tour for the fourth time in February and came 15th in this year's Open Championship so certainly has a bit of form coming into one of the biggest tournaments in South Africa. Thirty-four year old Robert Rock is next in the betting at 16/1. The Englishman won his first ever professional title in June with a one stroke victory at the BMW Italian Open. A second professional victory for Rock would not be out of the question and would elevate him above his current status of journeyman players. Outside the top of the betting there are a few players that could interest people looking for some each way value. Veteran Swede Niclas Fasth is top priced at 80/1 and still has the class to do well in what is a relatively weak field. South African player Alex Haindl has a decent record in this tournament and at best odds of 250/1 he could be the surprise package in the tournament. The tournament starts on Thursday and with temperatures at Leopard Creek set to reach 33 degrees it promises to be a grueling day on the course.
