The LPGA Tour is in Lancashire,England, for the last major championship of 2009 at the Royal Lytham & St Annes Golf Club. Rookie Jiyai Shin will defend the title she captured last year at Sunningdale Golf Club.As a non member of the LPGA she went on to win 2 more titles in 2008,the Mizuno Classsic and the ADT Championship. The Ricoh British Open will feature the top 20 players in the world and 47 of the top 50,including the winners of the 2009 3 previous major championships Brittany Lincicome,Anna Norqvist and Eun-Hee Ji. World # 1 Lorena Ochoa will be looking to redeem herself after a rather disappointing season. On the Champions Tour Loren Roberts is looking for his 2nd major championship in 2 weeks at Crooked Stick Golf Club in Carmel,Indiana where the Senior U.S. Open will start tomorrow. Roberts won the Senior British Open last week at Sunningdale in a playoff with Mark McNulty. It’s a perfect time to get hot on the ChampionsTour and winning back to back majors surely has crossed Roberts’ mind as he prepared specially for this U.S. Open, spending a few days at Crooked Stick three weeks ago. Tom Watson will be entering in his 3rd major in 3 weeks as he finished runner-up to Stewart Cink at The Open Championship and then played at Senior British Open. The 4 times winner in 2009 Bernhard Langer is the favorite as he is looking for his first major this year.He finished 4th last week with a brilliant 65 on Sunday but a bad first round 72 was too hard to overcome. Tiger Woods is playing at the Buick Open at Warwick Hills Golf & Country Club, why? After missing the cut at The Open in Scotland he probably realised that he needed more tournaments round to work on his game and in particular on his driving. The tree-lined course at Warwick Hills will be an excellent test off the tee and the perfect fast greens a great preparation for the PGA Championship at Hazeltine. Also Tiger has won the Buick Open twice,in 2002 and for his milestone 50th PGA Tour title in 2006.He loves the course so this could be a good confidence booster going for his last shot at a major in 2009 two weeks from now. So the disappointment in Scotland due to Tiger’s missed cut turns out to be a big break for the Buick Open and for us,the golf fans. A lot of action !! Time to check the pairings and betting lines at BetPhoenix.com and put a wager on your favorite players.Have fun!
