| Tiger wins his third Buick open |
A Sunday drive for Tiger who never was under pressure on the last round of the Buick Open. He was tied for the lead at -17 as he was playing the 3rd hole by Roland Thatcher who was finishing what would be the best round of the day 8 under par 64. Woods corrected that immediatly with a birdie at 4 and one more at the par 5 7th to take a 2 shots advantage. Nobody got closer than 2 shots and Tiger closed the deal with a birdie at 16 which gave him a 3 shots lead with 2 holes to.play.A routine par at the 17 and a lip-out for birdie at 18 led to his third victory at the Buick Open and his 69th on the PGA Tour, only 4 short of Jack Nicklaus who is in second place all time with 73 wins(for how long?). Tiger also regained the top spot of the Fedex Cup ranking. Roland Thatcher, who finished almost 4 hours before Tiger,is T 2 with Greg Chalmers and John Senden at -17,Y.E. Yang is 5th,Michael Letzig and Ben crane T 6. Tiger said he entered the Buick Open “to work things out” and something worked,he won,but I don’t think he can be pleased with his driving perfermance. He hit a lot of errand shots from the tee and scrambled his way to a very good result but do not be mistaken,if he plays like that this coming week at the World Golf Championship and the next at the PGA at Hazeltine with the best players of the world in the field HE WILL NOT WIN.
