Senior U.S. Open at Crooked Stick Carmel , Indiana

Fred Funk wins by 6 strokes !!

Funk started the last round at Crooked Stick at -13 with a 1 shot lead and built on it shooting a 7 under par 65 with 7 birdies and no bogey.

A fast start with birdies at 2 and 4 gave him 3 shots lead over Greg Norman and Joey Sindelar.Norman with double bogey at 6 and bogey at 7 dropped to -9,pretty much out of it.Sindelar birdied 9 to get within 2 shots but Funk answered with 2 of his own at 9 and 10 to push the lead to 4. Meanwhile last week’s British Open champion Loren Roberts is charging up the leaderboard,9 under par for the day after 13holes,-12 for the championship,2 from Funk at that point who hadn’t play 9 and 10. Roberts ran out of steam and bogey 14,came back with a birdie at 15, and,with another bogey at 17 and an excellent par save at 18 finished with 64 at -11.

Fred Funk birdied 12 and it was a one man show from there on as he led by 6 shots at -18 over Sindelar and Russ Cochran at -12. Sindelar made 2 more birdies at 15 and 18 for a round of 70 and -14 aggregate. Cochran finished with a 68 at -12. Norman after a bogey at 10 got it to -12 with birdies at 11, 12, 15 but a bogey at 18 would make it a disappointing round 73 at -11 total.

Fred Funk went on to birdie 15 and finished in style with another one on the last hole 18 for a 20 under par total.

Flawless round of golf and a victory by 6 shots at the Senior U.S. Open.

Joey Sindelar fnished 2nd, Russ Cochran 3rd , Greg Norman and Loren Roberts T 4th, Mark O’Meara and Scott Simpson T 6.

Fred Funk annouced that he would be aggressive today in the last round,he was and it paid off !!
