The sun finally showed on Sunday in Greensboro after 3 days of golf spiked with weather delays.A shootout was expected in very good scoring conditions and the guys who went low fought for the title.
Sergio Garcia and Chris Riley started the last round co-leaders at -15, 2 shots ahead of Bill Haas and 3 of a group at -11.
Garcia made a big move when he birdied the 5th ,6th ,and 7th holes to get to -18,three shots clear of the field. The Spaniard’s putter started to fault and he bogeyed 8.Two more bogeys at 11 and 12 brought him back to -15,at the same time Jason Bohn eagled the par 5 15th and took a 1 shot lead at -16.Bohn finished with the best round of the day 8 under par 62 and posted -16,more than one hour ahead of the last group.

CHAMPIONS TOUR JELD-WEN Tradition Crosswater Club at Sunriver Resort Oregon

Emotional 2nd Major win for Mike “Radar” Reid

Mike Reid defeated John Cook with a birdie on the first playoff hole. His 12-foot birdie putt on 18 gave Reid his second career victory on the Champions Tour and his second Major,he won the Senior PGA Championship in 2005. Brad Bryant had led the JELD-WEN Tradition for 54 holes and had a 2-shot lead over Reid and 3 over Cook going in the last round on Sunday but couldn’t complete the wire-to-wire victory. John Cook took the lead at -16 with 4 birdies in the front nine and held it until Reid birdied 14 and 15 to tie.Cook sank a 20-foot putt at 17 to take a 1 shot lead over Reid who missed a 12 footer. They both found the greenside bunker on 18,Reid made a very good approach for par but Cook took a bogey that sent them to a playoff to decide the winner of the fourth major of the year at the JELD-WEN Tradition. A very emotional Mike Reid raised his arms after sinking the winning putt and tears started rolling down his cheeks as he hugged his son Daniel who caddied for him this week.Reid could hardly speak during the greenside interview and said later on “I felt I’d just climbed Mount Everest.”

Larry Mize finished 4th alone at -13 with a 3 under par 69 on Sunday.Tom Watson’s 67,the best round of the day, lifted him to T 5th with Fred Funk and Loren Roberts.
