Stricker threatens Woods’ No1 spot on Fedex Cup’s standings

On a beautiful day at TPC Boston Steve Stricker shot the best round on Sunday to regain the lead at -13 tied with Retief Goosen and Sean O’hair. Stricker had a very interesting third round 65 including 7 birdies and 3 bogeys before he made an eagle on the par 5 18th hole to cap it.He’s now in position to pass Tiger Woods at the top of the Fedex Cup standings with a victory tomorrow Monday on Labour Day. Tiger had a disappointing 1 over par round 72,he stands T30 at -4 for the tournament.

The leaderboard is all bunched-up with twenty players within 5 shots of the lead and we should have a great finish at the Deutsche Bank on Monday.Padraig Harrington with 3 consecutive 67 rounds is T4 at -12 with Kevin Na and Scott Verplank.

Last year’s Fedex Cup champion Vijay Singh currently 78th looks like he is going to make it to the BMW Championship this coming Thursday.Tiger woods has already commited as well as Phil Mickelson.

There is a big battle going on for a spot in the top 70 who will move on to the BMW at Cog Hill Golf & Country Club and also for the most important top 5 spots of the Fedex standings which will allow the 5 best players to control their destiny with a win at the Tour Championship, the fourth and final playoff.

The Fedex Cup organisation seems to have got it right this year as the excitement is mounting every week and every round is played like a match play tournament.

Every shot counts, check out the matchups at BetPhoenix.com and get in the action.
