Tiger best of top 3 in Fedex standings On a beautiful day at Cog Hill Tiger Woods, now second on the Fedex Cup standings, was paired on Thursday with #1 Steve Stricker and #3 Heath Slocum for the first round of the BMW Championship.Tiger shot the best round of the group,a 3 under par 68,two shots better than Slocum’s 70 and 4 better than Stricker’s 72. Tiger is looking to regain the lead in the Playoffs standings,he trails Stricker by 909 points.Stricker looked tired in the first round,he’s had a few stressing weeks of very successful golf and needs to pull himself together for the home stretch. Rory Sabbatini and Steve Marino are leading at -5, Bo Van Pelt and Marc Leishman T3 one shot behind at -4.Tiger is T5 at -3 with Padraig Harrington,Geoff Ogilvy,David Toms,John Mallinger and defending champion Camillo Villegas.Villegas needs a good result this week as he in 57th place on the standings The BMW Championship is the third leg of the Fedex Cup playoffs,70 players teed-up yesterday for only 30 spots available in the fourth and decisive leg two weeks from now at the Tour Championship. There is no cut this week at Cog Hill so we’ll have a fight to the finish on Sunday to define the top 30 players who will have a shot at the $10 million. This is the most exciting and cruel of the Playoffs as more than half of the field will be eliminated by Sunday afternoon.Check out the pairings and put a few bets on your favorite players, they are all going to give everything they have this weekend.
