Tiger Woods sets Cog Hill course record

Tiger started with a bogey at the first hole on Saturday as he did on Friday. After a couple of holes he’s 2 shots behind Leishman and Harrington who had a terrific start. With birdie at the 3rd hole followed by two more at the 6 and 8 Woods has pulled back to -9 and he takes a 1 shot lead over Leishman when he gets to -11 after a textbook eagle at the par 5 9th . There was no turning back from this point as the world #1 made 5 more birdies on the back nine for a record 9 under par round 62 at Cog Hill(63 was the old mark,Tiger had done it twice). It was an extraordinary round of golf, everything was perfect save the first hole. Tiger was hitting one great shot after another and sinking almost every putt in sight. There has been so much talking this year about how he failed to close the deal in major tournaments and how his putting has let him down. With this round, following two good ones on Thursday and Friday,Woods has just sent a message to the specialized medias and his contenders: if they want the Fedex Cup they will have to come and get it.

Tiger will start the last round of the BMW Championship Sunday at -16,seven shots ahead of Brandt Snedeker and Marc Leishman at -9 and eight of Padraig Harrington and Matt Kuchar. Snedeker and Kuchar had excellent rounds of 5 under 66 and Furyk shot 67.When looking at the on-course scoreboards these guys must have thought that Woods was playing a different golf course when they saw him shoot forward at rocket pace. Tiger has won 47 of 51 times when holding or sharing the lead going into the last round of a tournament, the last time he failed to win was at the 2009 PGA Championship when Y.E. Yang got back fro a 2-shot deficit and beat Tiger by 3.Yang is at +9 going into Sunday at the BMW, 25 shots behind Tiger But everybody is so far back this Sunday that it would take a small miracle for anyone to even get close, most of the contenders will concentrate on going as low as possible to get inside the top 30 of the Fedex Cup standings or inside the very important top 5 who would clinched the Cup with a victory at the Tour Championship. Padraig Harrington is T4 going to the last round at Cog Hill and would reach the 4th place in the standings, giving him a direct shot at the Cup.Harrington was 142nd entering the World Golf Championship a couple of months ago, what a climb it’s been and the Irishman is never to be taken lightly when he’s got a chance to shine.

Australian rookie Marc Leishman could make it,he got last week in the BMW by making an eagle on the last hole at TPC Boston, as well as Matt Kuchar and Brandt Snedeker if they hold or better their position.

A lot to play for this Sunday at the BMW Championship even though the first place is out of reach, the trophy virtually in the hands of world #1 Tiger Woods who has a 7-shot lead after the Saturday clinic. Tiger will also regain the top spot of the Fedex standings, relagating once more Steve Stricker to second place.
