| Couples goes for three in a row at Cap Cana |
On Friday the seniors will tee up at Punta Espada Golf Club for The Cap Cana Championship in the Dominican Republic. It’s a big golf course that should suit Couples, and he will be the man to catch there and every time he tees up until somebody proves otherwise. However, there are so many good players on the Champions Tour that you surely can find a few capable of ending Freddy’s run. BetPhoenix offers you the best options in Golf betting and Sports betting in general. Check out our special Bonus Packages and get started on Golf this week. Keith Fergus will defend the title he won by 1 stroke last year over Mark O’Meara and Andy Bean. Fergus holed-out from 95 yards for an eagle on the 17th hole to cap a comeback-win after trailing by 4 shots at one point in the final round. It was the first of two victories for Fergus last season, who went on to win the Regions Charity Classic. This is the third trip to Cap Cana for the Champions Tour. Mark Wiebe won the inaugural event in 2008 with a 14-under par 202 total, Fergus shot 203 last year. Bernhard Langer set the course record, 8-under 64, at Punta Espada last year when he finished T6 behind Fergus. Though overshadowed by Couples, the German is off to a very good start in 2010, with a win at the Allianz Championship on Feb. 21 at Boca Raton under his belt (Couples didn’t play there). Loren Roberts is always in contention and is getting better in each start, with T5s in the last two events. He’s a combined 38-under par in four starts with 10 rounds out of twelve in the 60s. Mark O’Meara enjoys Cap Cana, his last two rounds 65 and 68 last year were not good enough, but he was only one shot off winner Fergus at the end. Couples is leading the Charles Schwab Cup with 691 points in 3 starts. Langer is second with 400 points in 4 starts. Although couples his firmly in control of the year-long competition, it’s a long season and he’ll have to stay sharp to win it. I expect another good showing this week from the rookie, everybody’s chasing him and he’s enjoying his position in front of the pack. Join the excitement of golf betting at BetPhoenix.com Sportsbook.
