| The whole World will watch Tiger’s return at The Masters |
Tiger comes back after a five-month layoff following the scandal that shocked the world of sports last November. Having confessed his infidelities and undergo therapy, Woods now is ready to return to competitive golf. There is no better time to get started in Golf Betting. BetPhoenix offers you the widest range of options on all Sport Betting, and this week in particular on the first golf major tournament of the year. Don’t miss on Tiger’s return! Woods opened his press conference Monday afternoon apologizing to his fellow players for the bombardment of questions they have received since his November’s car crash. They wholly accepted, welcoming back woods to the place where he’s won four times. In the morning, Fred Couples patted Tiger on the back as they were heading down the 10th fairway for a practice round, joined on the 13th hole by Jim Furyk. “It was awesome,” said Couples. “We had a good time. He was excited to be out there. He really was. His face lit up.” Tiger was back on the course at Augusta National Tuesday morning, looking as cool and comfortable as ever. Everybody was wondering what kind of reception was in store for the four-time champion, but the patrons were polite and supportive, as was the applause. Woods played his practice round with a familiar partner, long-time friend Mark O’Meara who played the “big brother” for ten years when Tiger first came on the PGA TOUR. Can Tiger win his fifth Green Jacket ? Well, it’s been five years since he won last at Augusta National, a surprising drought for a guy who won four of his first nine Masters as a professional, including the first one by a record 12 shots in 1997. Although it looks like Woods has lost his touch at the Masters, most professional golfers would be thrilled with his results the past four years: A pair of runner-up finishes, with a third and a sixth-place tie amounting to almost $2 million in earnings. However, for Tiger, anything short of him slipping on a Green Jacket Sunday evening is considered a failure. He admits he wasn’t in total control those last few years, at least on Augusta’s slick greens. “This last couple of years, my putting has been streaky here,” said Tiger after his T6 finish last year. “I get on rolls where I make everything, and I get on rolls where I don’t make anything. Consequently, I didn’t win the tournament. You have to be consistent around this golf course.” Consistency might be his major problem this week after such a long layoff, but I would never sell the World No. 1 short. He’s planned his return carefully, and I’m sure he’s ready to win again. However, Tiger will have to contend with all the scrutiny from the media and the fans, not forgetting he’s up against the best players in the world. Woods will be paired with former Georgia Tech star Matt Kuchar and Korea’s K.J. Choi for his first competitive round of golf Thursday afternoon since he won in Australia last November. The threesome will tee off at 1:42 pm, and at 10:35 am on Friday for the second round. No doubt the world No. 1 will draw record galleries around the Augusta National golf course.
