LPGA spokesman David Higdon called Blasberg's sudden demise a”tough hit" for women's golf. "She was a very popular player and well-liked and we're going to miss her," Higdon said. "This is a very close-knit group of players and tour and we're saddened by what happened." "To most of the world, Erica was known as a professional golfer, but she was more than that," Erica's agent, Chase Callahan, said in a statement. "She was a loving daughter to her parents and a compassionate and loyal friend." Henderson police spokesman Keith Paul said Monday that authorities were investigating the 25-year-old American’s death. It was not immediately clear, Paul said police responded to a 911 call and were dispatched to Blasberg’s suburban house around 3 p.m. on Sunday. Paul declined to say who made the call, saying it was part of the investigation. Blasberg’s agent, Chase Callahan, confirmed her death but declined to provide details because of the investigation. "This is a painful loss, we feel it in our hearts and we will miss her," Callahan said in a statement. "We ask that you keep Erica and her family in your prayers." According to Blasberg's website, she started golfing at the age 5-years-old, guided and coached by her father, Mel. Her website says she went to play for the University of Arizona, where she won six tournaments and played in the Curtis Cup, an amateur women's golf tournament, in 2004 same year she went pro, winning once on the Duramed Futures Tour before qualifying for the 2005 LPGA Tour. Blasberg played her only LPGA Tour event in 2010 in Mexico, two weeks before her death. She tied for 44th place. The golfer’s community is stunned by this great tragedy: Stacy Prammanasudh, was taken aback by the news. "It's just sickening to not know what happened and obviously out here it's like a traveling family," she said. "I wasn't close to her and didn't know her that well -- I spoke to her here and there. But she's close to my age and it's scary. I think it's really a shock to everybody and we're really, really saddened by the news." "I'm just very sad and just really kind of sick to my stomach that a life ended so young," LPGA player Meg Mallon said. "We haven't had to deal with this much on this tour and it's going to hit hard. Heather Daly-Donofrio, a former player and Mitchell Company LPGA Tournament of Champions winner here who is now a LPGA media relations director, said, "Erica Blasberg was a wonderful young woman. I had the pleasure of playing many, many a competitive round with her. We had nice chats through the years. I think it's really a shock to everybody and we're really, really saddened by the news."
