The winds are blowing at Colorado Golf Club, and nobody plays better in the wind than Tom Watson. He nearly won the British Open last year in similar conditions, and surely will be a factor this week in Denver. However, Fred Couples is the big favorite. He’s won three consecutive tournaments on the Champions Tour in his rookie year after Watson edged him in Hawaii, and had a brilliant performance at The Master where he finished in 6th place. Freddy’s back isn’t bothering him, he should make some noise in the 2010 Champions Tour first major. Bernhard Langer has got 10 wins on the 50-and-over Tour, and he’s looking for a major title to top it off. The German wasn’t at his best on his last two starts, but his superb iron play will be an asset in difficult conditions. Tom Pernice Jr. splits his time between the PGA TOUR and the Champions Tour. He was T7 at the Byron Nelson last week and has had three straight top 10s on the Champions Tour. It’s only a question of time before he wins. Dan Forsman won the Regions Charity Classic last week, making it 5 top 10 finishes in 8 starts. He’s consistent and ranks fifth in driving distance. Michael Allen is the defending champion, he captured the Senior PGA Championship last year on his Champion Tour debut. He hasn’t been playing his best golf lately, but he’s still competitive on the regular Tour. Corey Pavin has been on the front page of the leaderboards, but hasn’t been able to win so far. His low ball-flight should help him to fight the winds in Denver, he could surprise the big hitters at Colorado Golf Club. Fred Funk is recovering nicely from knee surgery, his performance at THE PLAYERS showed he’s ready take the fight to THE Freddy (Couples). This is a great week for golf betting, take your picks and enjoy watching the event with a few bets riding on each round.
