The Injury Plagued Pittsburgh Penguins Should Still Have Success Against The New York Islanders
The Injury Plagued Pittsburgh Penguins Should Still Have Success Against The New York IslandersThe Pittsburgh Penguins are devastated by injuries to some of their best players, but are still trying to win hockey games. That challenge should be a bit easier when they face off against the New York Islanders.

The best online sportsbook to bet on the NHL is BetPhoenix. They offer great wagering opportunities on every game on the schedule.

The Penguins are currently playing without two of their greatest players. Star centers Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin missed the Penguins’ game against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday night. It marked the first time since the 2006-07 season, Malkin’s rookie year, that both All-Stars have been absent from the lineup for the same game. Crosby has missed seven straight games because of a concussion. The Penguins did not say what was wrong with Malkin, but his left knee has been bothering him recently. The status of the two players is still unknown as they take the ice against the Islanders.

The Islanders have an injury that they are concerned with as well. Backup goalie Nathan Lawson was replaced after injuring his left knee in the first period Friday night against the Buffalo Sabres. Lawson hurt himself when he steered toward a goal post while reaching out to grab a jam-in attempt by Buffalo’s Jochen Hecht. The play occurred with 3:01 left, and Lawson remained in the game after a trainer attended to him. He was replaced by Kevin Poulin at the beginning of the second period. The Islanders will try and take advantage of a banged up Pittsburgh team when they meet.

The Islanders have their moments of brilliance, but are otherwise no match for the Penguins. Even without some key personnel, the Penguins will beat the Islanders at home.
