| The streaking Chicago Blackhawks look to dismantle the Toronto Maple Leafs |
The Hawks won their sixth game in a row thanks to the strong games of Jonathan Toews, Michael Frolik, Brian Campbell and Dave Bolland. Toews scored twice while Frolik had a goal and two assists. Campbell (power play) and Bolland each had a goal and an assist. Bolland scored a key goal in the third period to turn back some of the Flames' momentum. Calgary had overcome a 4-1 deficit in the third as Rene Bourque scored twice and Jarome Iginla once. Marian Hossa added an empty-netter in the final minute. Corey Crawford made 21 saves to record his sixth consecutive win. For nine months, supporters of the Maple Leafs have been getting the jeers from Chicago fans about the Blackhawks' Stanley Cup win leaving Toronto with the NHL's longest championship drought, 44 years. On Saturday, the Leafs can do something about it. A win at the Air Canada Centre would extend their own improbable playoff run and possibly endanger Chicago's chances to qualify for a repeat. Toronto was only three points out of the playoffs through Thursday, while Chicago entered a home game against Carolina. The last time the Leafs and Hawks met was November 2009 at the United Center, when Phil Kessel had both Toronto goals in a 3-2 loss. The Hawks hold a 4-0 record against the Leafs since the NHL lockout, but there is a quirky stat in the Leafs' favor: a record of 9-4-1 against Cup winners in the first post-championship meeting. The Leafs will be playing for their lives in this game and will pull off the impressive victory. Play on the Maple Leafs
