The Top Seeded Philadelphia Flyers Look to Stop the Boston Bruins
The Top Seeded Philadelphia Flyers Look to Stop the Boston BruinsThe Philadelphia Flyers are sitting on top of the Eastern Conference and want to make sure it stays that way as they enter the NHL playoffs. The Boston Bruins are sitting just six points behind the Flyers for the top spot and playing great hockey.

The best online sportsbook to bet on the NHL is BetPhoenix. They offer great wagering opportunities on every game on the schedule.

Special teams can often make the difference in the playoffs, and if that's the case, the Flyers might want to start declining penalties.

While their penalty-killing units have improved to ninth in the league (83.5 percent), their power play has fallen to 20th.

The Flyers were blanked on all three power-play opportunities in Thursday night's 2-1 shootout loss to the Penguins and are now 0-for-13 on the man-advantage in their past five games.

Flyers assistant coach Joe Mullen has tried mixing up his power-play units, using left-handed-shooting forward James van Riemsdyk at the right point on a first unit with defenseman Andrej Meszaros and forwards Danny Briere, Jeff Carter and Claude Giroux.

The second unit has right-handed-shooting Kris Versteeg at the right point with Kimmo Timonen, along with forwards Scott Hartnell, Mike Richards and Ville Leino.

The Flyers' next chance comes Saturday night in Uniondale when they face the Islanders.

The Flyers went to the shootout for the fourth consecutive game, the first time that has happened since shootouts were introduced in the 2005-06 season. They are 3-6 in nine shootouts this season and 1-3 during this four-game shootout stretch. Ville Leino is now 2-for-4, Claude Giroux is 2-for-8, Danny Briere is 3-for-9, and Mike Richards 1-for-5. Briere is the only Flyer to participate in all nine shootouts.

The Flyers are struggling at the wrong time and the Boston Bruins get a big win.
