The Explosive San Jose Sharks take on the slumping LA Kings in the Playoffs
The Explosive San Jose Sharks take on the slumping LA Kings in the PlayoffsThe San Jose Sharks have a nice draw in the first round of the NHL Playoffs as they takeon the struggling LA Kings.

Bet Phoenix is the best place to wager on NHL playoff hockey. From round one to the Stanley Cup, Bet Phoenix has all of the great wagering opportunities and NHL Odds for the playoffs.

One thing for sure, offense should take center stage in this round of the NHL Playoffs. Joe Thornton became just the 78th player in NHL history to record 1,000 career points, but the big news for him is that he won't be required to go it alone when it comes to producing this spring. Both Patrick Marleau (37) and rookie Logan Couture (32) topped 30 goals, while Dany Heatley (26), Ryane Clowe (24), Devon Setoguchi (22), Thornton (21) and Joe Pavelski (20) all clicked for 20 or more.

Clowe (153 hits) and Setoguchi (138) not only score, the also bring a physical presence.

Scott Nichol won an astounding 59.4 percent of his faceoffs. Ben Eager brought an element of toughness that was lacking when he was acquired at mid-season from Atlanta. Veteran grinder Jamal Mayers played his 800th NHL game and collected his 1,000th career penalty minute. Torrey Mitchell garnered a career-high 22 points.

Six Kings reached the 20-goal plateau this season — captain Dustin Brown, Anze Kopitar, Dustin Penner, Ryan Smyth, Jarret Stoll and Justin Williams. It's the first time that's happened since the 1992-93 season. But they'll be without Kopitar (broken ankle), though Williams (shoulder injury) is expected to give it a go in the first round. Brown finished the season with 13 points in his last 13 games.

The Sharks have flown under the radar this season, and have garnered the best possible first-round match-up. The injury-riddled Kings won't be able to handle San Jose's big, powerful forwards.

The Sharks are 102-47 in their last 149 games as a home favorite and get a win in the first game of this series.
