The Boston Bruins are in Panic Mode heading to Montreal
The Boston Bruins are in Panic Mode heading to MontrealThe Montreal Canadiens have a commanding 2-0 lead in the series with the Boston Bruins. This is surprising considering that the Bruins were supposed to easily win this series.

The hated Habs had the two goals they needed in the first 140 seconds of the game, the first one just 43 seconds in. The B's cut the lead in half on a goal by Patrice Bergeron, but defenseman-playing-forward Yannick Weber scored on the second long rebound given up by Tim Thomas and that was enough for the Canadiens to win again.

All three Montreal goals came off giveaways by a Boston defense playing without Zdeno Chara. All five Montreal goals in the series have come off turnovers.

Here's an ominous historical stat facing the Bruins as they head into Montreal for Game 3 of their first-round playoff series: The Bruins have never rallied from an 0-2 series deficit to win a best-of-seven series.< Ever.

Saturday night's home loss to the quicker and more determined Canadiens produced the Bruins' 27th 0-2 series deficit in their history. And this one comes with the added problem of four of the last five games being in Montreal.

More? The Canadiens, home for Games 3 and 4 Monday and Thursday nights, are 48-4 when leading a series 2-0. They have gone on to sweep 21 of those 52 series.

Asked if it's tough to accept being down 0-2, goalie Tim Thomas said, "Well, it's easy to accept because it is. It is what it is. We've got our backs to the wall, and we'll see how we respond."

The Bruins have beaten the Canadiens twice in eight games this year, and scored 15 goals in those two games. But they lost all three games in Montreal (one in overtime). But the Bruins were a good road team in the regular season and have to rely on that if they have any hopes of keeping their season alive past the first round.

The Canadiens are 5-0 in their last 5 Conference Quarterfinals games and they take down the Bruins one more time.
