The Boston Bruins Look For Revenge Against the Philadelphia Flyers

The Boston Bruins advanced to play the Philadelphia Flyers and are eager to get revenge. The Bruins had to knock off Montreal to get to this series.

The Bruins led 2-0 early in Game 7 and blew that lead. They led 3-2 on Chris Kelly's third-period goal and blew that, too, when P.K. Subban beat Tim Thomas with 1:57 remaining in regulation.

Enter Nathan Horton, who celebrated his first NHL playoff series with overtime goals in Games 5 and 7. The Bruins edged the Canadiens in seven games in the first round of the Eastern Conference playoffs, winning four of the last five games with their last three wins coming in overtime.

Surviving to face the Flyers in the second round might have saved the jobs of coach Claude Julien and general manager Peter Chiarelli, said to be in serious trouble if the B's didn't get out of the first round. But another poor showing against the Flyers in round 2 would get the chatter going again.

The Bruins won the series despite going 0-for-21 on the power play and even allowing a shorthanded goal that tied Game 7, 2-2.

The B's went 3-0-1 against the Flyers in the regular season, winning both games in Philadelphia with Tim Thomas yielding only one goal in the two victories.

The Bruins were 0-26 in playoff series they'd trailed 0-2 before winning this one. They also won their first Game 7 under Julien and the first Game 7 since beating the Canadiens in 1994.

This is just the third time the Flyers have ever won a series they trailed 3-2 after five games. The others were the 2010 Eastern Conference Semifinals in Game 7 at Boston and the 1989 Patrick Division Finals in Game 7 at Pittsburgh. The Bruins don’t want to start the series off in a hole and they come out firing in game one.
