The Boston Bruins Look To Keep the Pressure on against the Philadelphia Flyers

The Boston Bruins have been here before as they lead the Philadelphia Flyers 2-0.

James van Riemsdyk played his most dominant game in a Flyers uniform, scoring two goals on eight shots, but it wasn't enough against Bruins goaltender Tim Thomas, who was brilliant in stopping 52 of 54 shots. David Krejci scored for the third time in the series with 14:01 gone in overtime to give the Bruins a 2-0 lead in the series, which heads back to Boston for Game 3 on Wednesday. The Flyers lost Brian Boucher for nearly nine minutes of the second period because of a left hand injury, but he returned to play the third period and is expected to play in Game 3.

Flyers coach Peter Laviolette has been around this block a few times, so he figured he might as well come right out and say the pressure is on the Bruins to win their Eastern Conference semifinal series.

And that's exactly what he did after the Flyers lost in overtime Monday night to fall behind two games to none in their best-of-seven rematch of last year.

Of course, if the Flyers don't have defenseman Chris Pronger back for Game 3, Laviolette's prediction might be moot. The 36-year-old veteran sat out Game 2 with what is believed to be a pulled hamstring. He is questionable for Games 3 and 4 in Boston on Wednesday and Friday nights.

In their history the Flyers are 3-13 when losing the first two games of a best-of-seven playoff series and have come back to win a series after losing the first two at home just twice—in 1977 against the Toronto Maple Leafs and in 2000 against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Of course, the other time was last season when the Flyers lost two in Boston and Game 3 in Philly before staging their historic comeback

This is a different team from a year ago and the Bruins keep winning to put the Flyers on the brink of elimination.
